Alice Cornwinkle’s life is stretched to the limit and falling apart at the seams: she doesn’t have enough time for her daughter, Chloe, her marriage to Jack is reaching the breaking point and, following the success of her first novel “The Underground Child,” she can’t seem to finish her long awaited sophmore effort. At a roof-top party where she is to accept the prestigious “Lewis Carroll Award” for excellence in writing, she is struck by lightning and launched into a dream much like the one shared by her namesake a century and a half before.
With an all-star creative team including Costume Design by Susan Hilferty, Choreography by Maruerite Derricks, Lighting Design by Tony Nominated, Paul Gallo, and spectacular Video & Projections by Sven Ortel complimenting the inventive set design of Neil Patel, the show had a wonderful World Premier at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center (now the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts) in December of 2009. It then moved to the Alley Theater in Houston where, with co-author, Gregory Boyd, Tony nominated team of Frank Wildhorn and Jack Murphy, a re-tooled version of the production debuted in January of this year.
